Parent and Player Policies
Our purpose is to provide a competitive program for additional volleyball practice outside of the regular season. It is open to athletes who may not have made the school team and other school districts. Our goal is to offer highly competitive USAV National teams for ages 13 and older, but will dependent upon interest. The twelve and under age group will play in AAU tournaments.

Borderline Volleyball Club is able to keep our costs low because we do not pay to use the Bedford facilities. However, this also limits our season. We can only use the gym when Bedford school teams are not using it. Therefore, weekday practices cannot begin until April and only after all spring sports teams can move outside.

General
  • Participation at all tournaments and practices is expected. If there is a conflict please notify your head coach as soon as possible!
  • Don’t just be on time for practices and games, be EARLY! Please arrive at least 15 minutes early, so you can be ready to warm up. In addition, be early to pick your daughter up at the end of practices. Please come into the gym to pick her up, or if she drives please remind her to walk out with a group. The coaches will do their best to make sure the girls are safe, but we would appreciate your additional reminders.
  • As a parent, please conduct yourself in a way that brings credit and honor to you, your daughter, and Borderline Volleyball Club. Once your daughter becomes a part of Borderline, you also represent our club. Unsportsmanlike behavior and comments cannot be tolerated. Show respect toward all officials, line judges, coaches, players, parents, and other club teams throughout the season.
  • During a game, it is the coach’s job to give instructions. Please support the all the girls with encouragement!

Tournaments
  • Each facility has rules and regulations. Please follow them to the best of your ability, even if others do not!
  • Crock pots and coolers are not allowed in most sites. Plan on having a picnic or tailgate party. Please clean up your area!
  • AAU/USAV saves money by using team players and coaches as referees. Please be respectful and understand that they are doing their best!
  • Players will learn and share in all team officiating responsibilities: score keeping, line judging, and refereeing. Players are expected to be alert at all times during officiating responsibilities. Every player is required to stay until excused by the coach.
  • Parents are responsible for their child at all overnight tournaments.
  • Please support your daughter and her team in a positive way. Remember, they are all trying to do their best!

Coaches
  • Our coaches have years of coaching experience. Their expectations and rules are very similar to what is expected for high school varsity level players.
  • Coaches run practices for each team. Their job is to instruct all the girls on correct techniques, organize drills, and supervise practices. The coach will focus on team skills as well on individual skills.
  • Every coach has his or her own style. Some may be vocal during the game, while others may take on the role of observer and make corrections during practice. Please support your coach and be respectful.

24 Hour Rule
  • If you have a concern about Borderline, please wait 24 hours to think things over, and then, contact a board member. This allows us to handle things in a rational manner. Remember the players, coaches and Board Members are doing what they think is best!

Play Time
  • During Pool Play it is our goal for all girls to play equally depending on each player’s position. When it comes to semi-finals and finals in a tournament, it is the coach’s prerogative that determines who plays. Remember most of the learning takes place during practices. The girls practice attack skills and defense during every practice. Typically, playing time is determined by attendance, attitude, effort, performance, the team's needs, and the discretion of the coach. Athletes are encouraged to ask their coach what they need to work on in order to get more playing time.

Team Goals
  • Once teams are selected, we want the girls to play together the whole season. However, it may be necessary to move players around to different teams to fill positions so all teams may participate.

Borderline Volleyball Club Board
  • Please remember we are all unpaid volunteers who donate our time because we believe in our volleyball program! If you have any questions, please ask. Each year we make changes in order to make things better, so we do listen to your suggestions.
